Sitting in a picturesque country town behind the doors of a historical building is a luxurious guest stay with a stunning modern-meets-traditional design.

Mister Munro has just been crowned the Best Design Stay at Airbnb's 2023 Host Awards for its lovingly restored space that combines period details as a homage to the building's roots with contemporary comforts.

The award-winning three-bedroom flat sits inside an 1890-built Victorian terrace in the charming town of Crookwell, three hour's drive inland from Sydney, in New South Wales' Southern Tablelands.

Inside is a blend of light-filled corners and moody nooks with hues of dark green, brown and black contrasting crisp white walls and is peppered with elements alluding to the building's previous residents.

Host Elise Croker explained the spectacular stay is named after its first inhabitant William Munro, a tailor who lived in the stately residence around 120 years ago.
