Choosing a Double Pushchair Twin

You need a double stroller in order to transport your twins from A to B. Our range includes twin prams and buggies that can be configured in a variety of ways to meet your requirements.

Choose a stroller that folds in a single step and is easy to lift into your car. You may also prefer an ultra-lightweight design, particularly if you're tackling busy high streets.

Side-by-Side

This is the most common double pushchair. It can usually seat two children side by side. They tend to be a bit wider than single pushchairs, which means they may be less nimble on the sidewalk and can be a little tricky to navigate through kerbs when a car seat is attached. The extra size allows them to move more easily through doors and also more evenly distributed, so it is easier for you to carry them on your back.

They can be used as twin prams from birth, and many models will take both a carrycot or two car seats. Some can even be converted to a single mode with an additional basket (like the Cybex Venus).

The Bugaboo Donkey 5 is a great illustration of this. In Twin Mode, you can place the rear seat next to a carrycot. This allows you to create an enclosed twin space, which is perfect for newborns. The pram and car seat is also equipped with a couple of really neat accessories, such as the newborn cocoons, which can be positioned to face either way (for twin-facing prams) or facing forwards (for a standard single). It's not as light as other options, but it's extremely well-thought out.

Lightweight

Cybex is known for innovation, and this single-to-double pushchair is no exception. Its clever frame expands widthways to take two seats and can be used it as a twin right from birth with the addition of two newborn cocoons (PS59 each) which create enclosed lie-flat spaces for babies. It can also be used in mono mode with just one child, thanks to a large basket that sits behind the seat. It comes with front and rear suspensions, so it can handle bumps and uneven surfaces better. Our reviewers chose this car as their top choice.

Available in a variety elegant colors.

Tandem

If you're planning to have twins you will require a pushchair that is tandem. This will allow each child to sit and interact with each other. These are great for things like visiting the zoo, as the children can look at all the animals together. They are also ideal for parents who wish to keep an eye on both their toddler and baby simultaneously.

Some tandem pushchairs are very flexible, as they can be converted back to single mode. This is especially handy when you're planning to have more than two kids (or only your oldest does not require a buggy anymore). This means you won't have an empty pushchair to store away and can be expensive.

The Cybex Venus, for example, can be used either in double or mono mode. The frame can be expanded to allow for an additional seat. It's not the lightest pushchair however it does come with an ample basket that can be set behind the front seat when in double mode or in the back when it's in mono mode. The seats can be placed to face each other or one can be set higher so that it can be able to look over the other and see what they're up to.

Other double tandem pushchairs, like the Joolz Geo 3 in 1 pram, are capable of seating one over the other or side-by-side. They are sleek and compact frame that makes them easy to navigate through doorways and supermarket aisles Some models can even be used as a jogging stroller on rough terrain thanks to a four-wheel suspension and wide rear wheels.

Another advantage of a tandem pushchair is that it can often include two carrycots, or a car seat and buggy seat. You can save money by creating an entire travel system from the beginning, and avoiding separate purchases. Remember that tandems are heavier and longer, and can be less stable when bumping up kerbs and going over uneven surfaces. They also have to be dismantled to fit in cars.image
